A group of misfits are at war with the German army of Nazis. During the war, USA and a number of nations lose prized art pieces to Nazi thieves. For this reason and more, Germany is facing a lot of challenges from other countries. Amidst all this an order is sent out to the Nazis, to destroy everything.
The misfits who are referred to as The Monument Men in war, hear of the news but are not losing hope. They are tasked by FDR, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, of US, to go into Germany to rescue the artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their rightful owners.

This sets the monument men on a tight race against time to avoid the destruction of 1,000 years of culture preserved in art. They risk their lives to protect these pieces. The movie is based on a non-fiction book titled The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History, by American author Robert M. Edsel.

Rotten Tomatoes movie critics summarise the movie: “Its intentions are noble and its cast is impressive, but neither can compensate for The Monuments Men’s stiffly nostalgic tone and curiously slack narrative.”
