Acute Angle

The acute angle : More women making moves

International Women’s Day was celebrated this week and this makes me very angry that the efforts of men continue to go unnoticed. We deserve a day of our own surely. We run the hustle, the streets, families, everything. You name it. We make things happen in many fields. Some men like myself can be called stupid for uttering very sexist and irresponsible statements like the ones I just made. The ground is leveled. I continue to marvel at how Uganda is blessed with some fine Ugandan women. Yes, some beautiful shapely women. Excuse the evil rat in me. I tend to misbehave at times but yes, they get finer every day. That’s me being irresponsible again. I need me a Ugandan chick anyday. Where are my Ugandan women at?
Behind the physical blessings, our women are running the show. I once walked out of a date because chick was going on and on about her achievements. Lack of respect, huh? Wama ladies, avoid guys with esteem issues like me. Don’t settle for less. Pursue your goals without remorse and when you hit them, show off. Trust me, there is no harm in that. It is great to know that more women are coming out of their shells. They want to take over. They are going up the ranks in institutions. There are certainly more female CEOs in big offices these days. They are more assertive, aggressive women walking through all the corridors of power. We shall forgive the ones who want to usurp the man’s role as head of the house and take over. They want to run the home, the bedroom and the TV remote. Relax madame. You can control anything but not the TV remote. Ethical laws around the world state this.
But truth be told, women are surely making moves. They have even learnt to change car tyres. Tyres of cars they bought with their own dimes. Dimes they got from serious hustling. Hustling from delivering merchandise to different places on bodas. The bodas that start and define a life of hustle and ambitions. They have the ideas and are putting them into action. More and more women are thriving entrepreneurs with successful business enterprises that employ several other people. I know many young ladies taking on farming to complement their income. Gone are the days when women thought digging was a dirty job. They are taking on the challenging jobs.
They don’t even cry anymore when their husbands walk out. They pick up the pieces and hustle to look after their children. Thank God for our ladies. Well done!
