Famous tennis star Serena Williams has announced her engagement with Reddit social media site co-founder, Alexis Ohanian.
She made the announcement through a poem that she posted on Reddit, to say that her boyfriend, Ohanian, had asked her to marry him.
Williams revealed that Alexis proposed to her during her recent trip in Rome, a place where they first met, and she said yes. This was the poem she posted.
“I came home
A little late,
Someone had a bag packed for me,
And a carriage awaited, Destination: Rome,
To escort me to my very own “charming”
Back to where our stars first collided,
And now it was full circle
At the same table we first met by chance,
This time he made it not by chance
But by choice,
Down on one knee
He said four words
And
I said yes
On Alexis’ official account, he also posted a statement which verified William’s post: “And you made me the happiest man on the planet.”
Alexis is the co-founder of Reddit, a social media site that started in 2005, with a friend from college.
The 35-year-old Serena Williams is widely known for matching the Steffi Graf’s Open Era- record 22 Grand Slam single titles.
Williams and Ohanian have reportedly been dating since last year but had kept their relationship on a low-key.
