Richard Mofe-Damijo, aka RMD has managed to keep us entertained for years. From the early years of Nollywood in Uganda when he and Genevieve Nnaji had us in a choke-hold to him giving us major dzaddy vibes on IG, dude is not letting up, His most recent offering is The Black Book, which takes us into the underbelly of Nigeria’s crime world.

In The Black Book, Mofe-Damijo plays Paul Edima, a church deacon who is drawn back into his former life after the murder of his son, Damilola (Oworu). Some people enjoyed the movie so much that they compared Mofe-Damijo’s character to John Wick. But we do not do that here. There is only one John Wick. I digress. Mofe-Damijo’s performance is indeed good. He goes after his son’s killers with a laser-focus vengeance and violence. His acting is convincing. The rest of the cast includes familiar Nollywood faces such as Bimbo Akintola, Shaffy Bello, Ireti Doyle and Alex Usifo, and they carry their weight.

Nollywood is really not playing games with their content on Netflix, and this is one of the movies they should be proud of. The story is well told and manages to make you care. Editi Effiong did well on giving the movie direction, considering all the moving parts of the story.
