On Sunday, musician Coopy Bly through his foundation Yimba Uganda in Partnership with ISEE Solutions (Canada) ran a menstrual hygiene workshop at Joy Primary School in Wairaka Jinja.

The event was attended by female students from five neighbouring schools: Joy Primary School, Wairaka Primary School, Wairaka Modern High School, Hope Community High School and Nuvilla Primary School.

The event commenced with lively performances from popular Ugandan gospel artists including DReign, Zabuli, Fortune Spice, DJ Victor and Coopy Bly himself.

The students were divided into smaller groups where they received in-depth teachings about Sexual reproductive health and menstrual hygiene management. All the 335 female students in attendance received their very own reusable Menstrual Hygiene kit afterward.

The kit is expected to last them an average of three years allowing all these young women to comfortably and hygienically manage their menstrual periods. The campaign was aimed at reducing school absenteeism and school dropout rates among the rural schools.
