Mr & Miss Gorgeous International Uganda crowned

Lights, cameras, and walking the runway were the splashy order of the day on November 4, 2023, at Victoria Mews. We are talking about the second Ugandan edition Mr & Miss Gorgeous International series. The first edition was held earlier this year and was won by Patience Wawina. According to the country director of Miss Gorgeous International, Eunice Aleni, entrants were required to meet specific criteria, including being between 18 and 32 years old, unmarried, possessing a valid ID or passport, and demonstrating proficiency in both English and their mother tongue. The judging panel comprised distinguished individuals who played a crucial role in evaluating the contestants based on various parameters.

Later that evening, the winners were announced with Nabaasa Benad as Mr. Gorgeous International Uganda, Shadli Said Bazmal as the Runner-up, and Rebecca Mirembe Kisakye as Miss Gorgeous International Uganda. Other winners included Nassuna Faith, Kaitesi Elizabeth, Namanya Winnie, and Ampumuza Sandrah Kendrah, each recognized for their achievements in specific categories such as creative wear, sports, talent, best-dressed, and more.

Miss Gorgeous International originates from Anambra State, Nigeria, and its core mission revolves around celebrating cultural diversity around beauty standards. We got in touch with the top winners of the day amid their highest peaks of excitement from the awarding moment. Nabaasa Benad told SQOOP that he used to be ridiculed for his model-like appearance. “I thank God that I have used this perceived weakness into a strength. I saw the MGI competition as my ultimate platform.” Benad expressed his gratitude.

Rebecca, the Miss Gorgeous 2024 on the other hand said modeling is more than just appearances. “I pick my inspiration from my queen mother and mentor, Eunice Aleni, and her love for pageantry. I am going to start skill-building outreach programs, training women and youth in creating handcrafts using recyclable materials.”

We then asked Eunice Aleni about where the winners were heading after this achievement. She said, “The winners of the 2024 edition are set to represent Uganda in India in July 2024. They will provide an international platform to showcase their talents and promote the rich cultural diversity of Uganda on a global stage.”
