Much as Nyege Nyege is an arts festival, most cynics have probably misunderstood the whole concept of what could be Africa’s best underground music festival.
It is evident that the decision makers and moralists have occasionally alleged that Nyege Nyege is marred with a series of immoral acts, peculiar performances and sensual orgies prompting several attempts to halt the festival.
Just like at any other arts event, Nyege Nyege is a toast to party experience where people enjoy music, dance and other artistic forms. The festival also hosts other attractions such as food and merchandise vending, crafts, performance art, and social or cultural activities.
The event is a collective arts event that includes an artist residency and community studios with two record labels that includes Nyege Nyege tapes and Hakuna Kulala as an artist management agency and a legendary party crew called Boutiq electroniq.
While at Nyege Nyege Festival, it is all about a showcase of all the exciting developments on the East African scene, to show daring projects and give a real voice to the underground creatives, making it a highlight for both audiences and musicians and art alike.
In a four days Party non-Stop at the Nile, it is a sound of drums, a musical celebration, pioneering musical styles, creative workshops among many as revelers also get an experience to navigate the Nile
Finally, and most importantly, Nyege Nyege is all about dancing, because when the Nyege hits you, when the urge to dance is no longer controllable, then you must let go, and let Nyege take over.
More to the experience is Tourism, with organizers setting up a drift adventure center, a brand new world class adventure hub where guests can book and enjoy an unrivaled selection and combination of exciting river and land based activities with Adrift East Africa’s most respected and reputable adventure brand.
According to Mixmag, a top British electronic dance and clubbing magazine, Nyege Nyege is a genuine, experimental African utopia – it feels like the future of festivals: excitingly diverse, consistently surprising and committed to uncontrollable dancing.
It understood that the festival is a product of an act of sheer collective madness in the rainy season of 2015 when Nyege Nyege Festival was born and currently it is now considered the most important four-day international music festival in East Africa and Uganda as well.
