It was sheer shock in 2017 back home and Kenya when Eddy Kenzo has appointed the Kenyan Tourism Board ambassador, a position he held for a little over two years.
Immediately his contract got done, Uganda couldn’t slip up again as the ministry of tourism got him to sign the papers of becoming the Ugandan tourism ambassador. This happened last year.
Barely a year in that position, the Uganda Tourism Board has earlier today unveiled Joshua Cheptegei as the new tourism ambassador.
With this appointment, Cheptegei, long-distance runner and 2019 world champion in the 10,000 meters received a lot of congratulatory messages including Kenzo’s.
“Congratulations my brother and welcome to the team. Let’s do it even bigger,” posted the artiste.
Congratulations my brother Joshua Cheptegei and welcome to the team. Let’s do it even bigger?? ?? ??
The world champion after being unveiled said he’s delighted to be the new ambassador.
“I am deeply grateful to the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) for having chosen me for this huge responsibility, to be my country’s Tourism Ambassador. I look forward to sharing my Ugandan story with the rest of the world. In the same breath, I wish to call upon every Ugandan, especially those in the diaspora to make it a point to visit and discover more about this our country,” he said.
It is not clear yet whether Cheptegei joins Eddy Kenzo on the role or the latter’s contract is over.
