Faridah Nakazibwe fans page busted for using copied posts

Faridah Nakazibwe

Whoever is putting posts on Faridah Nakazibwe Fans page is not doing the news anchor any favours.  It seems the person is getting content from other people and posting it on the fans page as though it is her own.

Known for her soothing voice and calm personality, the NTV Mwasuze Mutya host has a huge following on social media, on the Faridah Nakazibwe fans page, where inspirational messages about marriage, relationships and life generally are posted. The posts have been well received until someone made some noise about them.

It all started today, when a one Mzee Kamba Bhamusangala commented on one of the posts accusing Nakazibwe of copying the message from a group dubbed “Bedroom secrets reloaded”. Bhamusangala who is flagged as her top fan further attached a screenshot of the post which was shared on February 16th, to prove his claims.

“Well copycat is not bad, but it illustrates the kind of message you intend to deliver and whether a reasonable person should accord it time. This is what you women do in a relationship. You copy and paste everything not knowing that we are aware,” he said.

It did not take so long before the matter was brought to Emmanuel Mukula the said author of the post and many others.

“THIS IS MY POST- When people get something written by someone else, they should acknowledge the source. It’s there on my wall, and my two groups: Deep talk Africa and Bedroom secrets,” he said.

In one of his groups, Mukula’s ardent follower Kelvin Mulenga said, “Just checked her wall, she actually has a fans page with a huge following and in Uganda, she is a celeb using your posts without acknowledging. Maybe this is something facebook should look into, especially when someone else is using your material in another jurisdiction.”

The police on Uganda Facebook have taken the matter to court – Mama Tendo Foundation group, where Nakazibwe is receiving a serious cyber beating.

Someone who goes by the name Samantha Carlton Nansubuga shared screenshots of the feud on the group.

“Some Zambians are seriously accusing Faridah of copying and stealing their posts. Copying is not bad for as long as you include the word COPIED naye mwe mugenda nemukopa nemuzimbila mumagezi gabanamwe (But you people go and steal and claim people’s knowledge),” she said.

Aggy Kafureeka said, “I expected a journalist to know the consequences of copying and pasting people’s articles without crediting them. It’s embarrassing… And this is common with Uganda’s journalists.”

“This is an offence, she can be sued if she is not serious, because from the main poster, he is saying he checked her wall and found out that she has been using her write ups,” Akankwatsa Daphine commented.

But trust Ugandans to always fight for their own. Majority of the members rallied behind Faridah. Whoever thinks Ugandans are not patriotic should check out that thread.

A one Becky Becky said “As for me, I first saw it with her, thanks Faridah, I wouldn’t have known… I don’t know that simanya Emmanuel should take a chill.”

Kozzi Seanna said, “This is Uganda, we can’t bring in ?ambians, if Faridah managed to bring the post from mukulu, let’s not judge her, let’s only look at the points in the post. It’s just a post.”

What is not clear is who manages the Faridah Nakazibwe’s Fans Page. When we tried to contact her to find out who it might be, Nakazibwe was unavailable on her known contacts. We sent her messages via WhatsApp, we hope she responds soon.
