Date with a celeb : Bruno K tells about his love for Sheebah

celeb

Following dream: He lost to Sandra Suubi in the recently-concluded Airtel Trace Music Stars but that did not stop Bruno K from pursuing his musical dream. The singer explains all this to his fan Patrick William.

Who is Bruno K?
Bruno K is a young, talented, principled and God-fearing man born and raised in Mukono District. The K stands for my surname Kiggundu.

When did you realise you had the talent to sing?
I discovered it in my Form Four when I was asked to head the worship team. I pulled it off and most of my friends encouraged me to push on with singing.

How old are you?
I am 23 years old.

How did it feel losing out on the Airtel Trace music stars to Sandra?
Of course, I was hurt but my elder sister, Brenda, told me that no matter what happened, I would still be a star. And also Julie Mutesasira encouraged me so much. She told me to push on because she saw a bright future in me.

How many songs do you have so far?
Minus the acoustics songs, I have three songs; Power, Gallileyo and Turning me on, which features my brother Rabadaba.

How did you join the competition in the first place?
Well, I was encouraged by my former manager MC Kats. He told me I had a big chance of winning because I had the potential.

What are your expectations in the music industry?
Making more money and inspiring the youth in one way or another.

Where do you think the Ugandan entertainment industry stands?
Well, it is tricky. It is not as easy as people think it is. There are many haters and lovers, and it is expensive.

Tell me about your family and school background?
I come from a family of three. I am the only boy. I went to Kitante Primary School and Kazinga Parents School, then Seroma Christian High School for my O-Level and St Joseph’s Naggalama for my A-level. I completed school at Ndejje University, Kampala campus.

Are you signed to any record label?
I am working with a label, though I am not yet signed to it. We are finalising with the process soon.

Who is your favourite Ugandan artiste at the moment?
Sheebah Karungi. She is so down to earth and so sweet. She gave me a warm welcome the first time we talked.

Where was Bruno K before Airtel Trace stars?
I was singing in so many different bands, including Pearl Music Band as well as Ultimate Band.

What kind of music do you do?
I am an R&B artiste but that does not limit me because I have also done some dancehall and zouk songs.

What qualities should a good artiste have?
A good artiste must know how to sing, play one or two music instruments, he or she has to be a good example to society and also be God-fearing.

Can you participate in any other musical competition?
No. That would be so selfish of me. I already got exposed and I have a huge fan base now. So all I have to do is produce more good songs to keep them satisfied.

Where is Bruno K three years from now?
I will be one of the hottest male artistes in Uganda and Africa, God-willing.
