Good to Go

To begin with, if you are emotional, get lots of tissue nearby before you begin watching the movie. You will need them later in the movie, at which point you will be so engrossed in the movie – you won’t muster the energy to walk away from the screen. This movie features Queen Latifah, Jill Scott and Condola Rashad. It is a powerful movie about a young woman with a chronic disease, who decides to go against the doctors’ orders and gets pregnant.

This is just so she enjoys the joy of being a mother, however brief, even if there’s a chance it will cost her her life. It reminds me of Pamela, a friend to a group of friends that passed on recently. Despite being with sickle cell anaemia, she did all the daring and risky things people with her illness are apparently not supposed to do, notably bungee jumping. Like Pamela, the lady lives her life to the fullest, not holding back while her mother worries about her health. This 2012 movie is a remake of the 1989 movie. The acting is good – you feel all the emotions the director wants you to feel, yet even then, it doesn’t measure up to the 1989 movie. You might want to watch both!
