The Buzz Teeniez Awards are on next weekend and one of the nominees in the Teeniez Show TV presenter category is NTV’s Sheila Gashumba.
Rather than get elated about her nomination, Gashumba who has previously won at the awards this time wants nothing to do with Buzz Awards where teenagers choose their best personalities and her lawyers have written to the organisers, instructing them to scrap her off the nomination list.
This development stems from last year’s awards where UBC’s MC Talha beat Gashumba to the Teeniez TV Presenter Award. Gashumba was joined by her father, the outspoken Frank Gashumba to bash the organisers because MC Talha also works for Buzz, which indicated a conflict of interest.
“MC Talha is currently going around schools on behalf of Buzz, asking teens to vote in the awards where he is nominated, that is definitely conflict of interest,” Gashumba said.
“Our client denounces interest whatsoever in the said nominations and awards. The said awards are too short of transparency and relevancy to our client’s career present and future. Our client hence instructs us as we hitherto do, to direct you to strike out her name off any nomination whatsoever, with immediate effect. Failure thereof, we shall institute court process against you as instructed,” a letter drawn by Gashumba’s lawyers to the Buzz organisers reads.
