For many, Club Guvnor is an exotic hangout where people go to have fun in a classy surrounding. And yes, you can’t take away the word ‘class’ while describing the night spot. But while the hangout has played host to some of the best theme parties in the country, there has not been a particular one dedicated specially to celebrating Ugandan music.
But all that is changing come next Friday as Guvnor is set to launch a new monthly theme night dubbed Dance Uganda; The Night. It will be characterised with DJs strictly playing the best of Ugandan music till late.
Golden Band’s Catherine Kusasira and lady’s man Jamal Wasswa are set to entertain revellers. According to Guvnor PRO-Natasha Kayondo (pictured left), the two musicians will perform any of their favourite Ugandan songs. “This fusion is the first of its kind. The musicians will play their favourite Ugandan songs, they don’t have to necessarily be their original songs, but any song by a Ugandan artiste,” Natasha told us.
The night which will be happening every second Friday of the month and will have more than meets the eye. A production team led by veteran actor John Segawa will be doing background work to ensure the night is unique and up to Guvnor standards. Natasha told us that the night will feature dancers and comedians as well.
