Wink opening VIP wing

place3A notch higher: Located in the leafy Kololo suburb, Wink Bar and Lounge is ideal for people who want to wind down, but they are turning things up with a VIP club that is opening tonight.

The quiet, laid back serene atmosphere of the Wink Bar and Lounge speaks volumes. From the humility of the security guard at the gate, the number of cars at the parking lot, the hospitality of the attendants, to the interior of the bar, one can surely tell this is an upscale hangout.
Located on Acacia Avenue (currently John Babiiha Avenue), the Wink is arguably the new big hangout in Kololo.
This bar offers charcoal grilled barbecue ranging from Shs15,000 to Shs19,000. Previously, it offered an atmosphere for just “chilling”. It was more of a “come, sit and drink while listening to classical music” sort of hangout.  But tonight, this hangout is expanding. It is opening what Solomon Ugen, the manager, calls the first “All VIP club”.
“By VIP,” Ugen tries to divulge while perusing through his phone to show me the photos of the club’s interior, “we mean service. Here, customers will make and receive their orders while comfortably seated. We’re basically redefining VIP night life,” he added.
Management declined to let this writer in the club, as final touches were being made, but Ugen tipped that the club’s interior is comprised of black and white colours with a  touch of red.
Ugen says the club’s clientele is expatriates and the classy, uptown lads. “That is why our grand opening is by invite only,” he added.
The club’s grand opening will be hosted by Capital FM’s ‘love doctor’, Val Oketcho this evening.

Drinks
Ugen insists that the prices of drinks are very much affordable with shots of whisky starting from shs6,000 and bottles of spirits averaging Shs150,000. Beers go for Shs6,000 and soft drinks going for shs3,000. The cheapest bottle of wine is shs80,000.

Theme nights
Ugen reveals that the club will have “The Rewind” every Wednesday where a guest deejay is invited to spin the old skool classics. “We will also have Tuesday Craze where all cocktails and spirits will be sold on a 20 per cent discount. Thursdays will host deejays who’ll spin purely house, techno and pop music. We shall also have throwback Fridays and VIP Saturdays,” he added. If your December holidays have kick-started, the Wink is surely worth checking out this weekend.
