The music video :Mpola Mpola – Sharon O

Sharon O

Sharon O

If there is one Ugandan video with ‘naturality’ this year, then this video is it. There is a special way Sharon becomes one with the nature around her in this Mpola Mpola video. She is face to face with nature, breathing love with her colourful attires in this music video. The video begins off with Sharon O going through a make-up moment before she bursts out with musical energy in her sparkling white dress. The swaying palm trees evoke the love emotions she’s singing about in this video.  The video gets one excited because of the out-door experience.

Sharon’s attires connected seamlessly with her environment and she was fully present in this music video. The camera movement is perfect and the visuals run smoothly so one definitely gets to enjoy her fantastic appearance at a good pace. Whoever chose the location got it right. There was a realness and believability in the location, so simple yet so beautiful.

However the video disappoints on the colour and lighting, there were many blurs.  The effects meant to enhance the visual aspects are a bit amateurish. The video does not have much of a story-line expect for Sharon moving around, changing attires and sitting down to enjoy the breeze from the nearby lake in the video.  The video missed out on the close-up shots of Sharon O, and a viewer has to strain their eyes to really catch up with Sharon’s facial features. The boredom comes in when one gets to only see Sharon from when the video begins to when it ends (Ugandan female artistes hate sharing the video limelight). Mpola Mpola is one video to relax your eyes on an afternoon, but not much of something to remember.
