Northern Uganda reggae artiste Bashir Maacha known to many as Easy Bash must be the happiest man right now. Forget about last year when he was in the news for planning a boycott of Kampala artistes because they go to the north and steal the show. His biggest disgruntlement: Artistes from Kampala don’t want to help artistes from the north breakthrough.
Now as you read this, Easy Bash beat Kampala artistes Chameleone, Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine and Radio and Weasel among others to a contract with World Vision after he was contacted by the NGO’s Oyam branch office. The deal was for him to do a song that sensitises the public about hygiene and sanitation in northern Uganda.
As part of the deal, the dreadlocked singer will move with the organisation during their weekly shows that will take place at different areas in the northern part of Uganda. When we contacted him to know how much he bagged from the deal, he was hesitant. “I signed the deal and just know it is enough money and at least I will not be broke until next year,” the singer said.
The singer who is slowly relocating to Kampala is known for songs Ebilooto, Pum Pum Style, Higher Level and Uganda, among others.
