Hailing from Mayuge District, Quin Abenakyo rose to fame in 2018 after being crowned Miss Uganda 2018/2019 at the age of 22. In the same year, Quin who was then a Business Computing student at Makerere University later represented Uganda in the 68th edition of the Miss World competitions. She performed well and  became the first Ugandan to ever make it to the top 30 finalists in the Miss World competition.

Miss Uganda Abenakyo later made it to the final and was among  the top five contestants. She not only represented Uganda but was also the only African in the final. The competition was won by a Mexican model Vanessa Ponce de Leon who was crowned Miss World at an event organised on the tropical Chinese island of Hainan. Quin was announced as the second runner up and Miss World Africa.

In 2019, Abenakyo graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Computing from Makerere University but her academic milestone was later challenged by a one David Musiri who claimed that Quin had not met all the necessary requirements to be awarded the degree.
