Herman Basuude is considered one of Uganda’s greatest Kadongo Kamu artistes. His storytelling was out of this world and ranks alongside artistes such as Paul Kafero, Jimmy Katumba and Elly Wamala.
During David Lutalo’s Nalongo press launch a few days back, artiste Mesach Semakula came out and said Lutalo is the current Herma Basuude and that Ugandans should treasure him while he is still alive.
“David Lutalo is different from other artistes. He is like Basuude, his lyrics are descriptive just like Basuude, and there is a way he tells his stories in his songs. Whenever I listen to his songs like Kabisi Kandagala and Nalongo, I feel I am listening to Basuude,” Semakula said.
