The leadership of the Uganda Police led by the Force’s Inspector General Martin Okoth Ochola have paid tribute to comedian Kato Lubwama who died last week.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga noted that they have lost a friend. Enanga also revealed that Lubwama was by the time of his death working on a project to promote community policing through his music, drama and proactive messaging.

“Our hearts are heavy, knowing he is gone forever. For decades, Pau Kato l Lubwama made people laugh and he revolutionized comedy. He was cultured and a highly intelligent musician and play writer. He was a satirist who dedicated his life to entertaining all of us. Even in illness, he would make everyone laugh, until the very end,” Enanga eulogized the former MP during a Monday press briefing in Kampala.

Enanga added that: “Lubwama has left an indelible mark and the Uganda Police Force remains saddened by his demise. Our thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family, friends, fans and well-wishers.”

IGP Ochola also extended support of Shs2 million to support Lubwama’s burial arrangements.

Several personalities in the arts industry and the political sphere have since last week visited Kato Lubwama’s home in Kampala to sympathise with his family, friends and also pay tribute to the deceased.

In line with his will, Kato Lubwama is to be buried on June 14 in Mpigi District, exactly one week after his death.
