Cheers, heart break at Champions League watch party

For the longer part of the night, the contest was not decided. And soccer fans, guests and officials glued onto the screens were glued to their seats during the Uefa Champions League at the Fast Fusion Sports Arena in Bugolobi.

But palpable emotions came to the fore after midfielder Rodri struck from outside the box on the 68th minute to give English club Manchester City the lead and eventual winner over Inter Milan during the final.
Man City won 1-0 to cap their first-ever Champions League title and at full time, as cameras clicked away at Fusion where DStv fans were hosted to a watch party by Multichoice on Saturday. Some fans rallying for Inter were left muted.

And fans backing Inter Milan slowly found their exit in sheer contrast of the evening of merrymaking it had been, christened by board games set up for fans to enjoy as they watched.
The match had appeared to be a see-saw affair with three-time champions Inter Milan having the best chances, including one which fell to Argentine forward Lautaro Martinez before he was kept out by City goalkeeper Ederson.

On the other end of Rodri’s effort, wingback Federico Dimarco and Romelu Lukaku each missed a chance for coach Simone Inzaghi’s side. Inzaghi’s opposite Pep Guardiola of Man City lifted his third Champions League title as a manager, following a 12-year wait.
The watch party was a give-back opportunity to customers: “Multichoice is committed to pushing its local strategy agenda in not just film but sport,” stated Rinaldi Jamugisa, the PR and communications manager, MultiChoice Uganda.

“With the local commentary option for football matches, our customers are able to watch and enjoy games while listening to some of their favourite local sport commentators.
In addition to this as the football season is coming to an end, we are bringing more family entertainment with an all-new and exciting show, Shaka Ilembe,” Jamugisha added.

Man City wrapped up a season treble, adding to their FA Cup and Premier League titles to match city rivals Manchester United’s feat of 1999 with Sir Alex Ferguson.
