Ugandan plays in Alicia Keys Orchestra

As Ugandan Bridgerton fans binged on Netflix’s latest addition, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton story, in another part of the world, one of their own celebrated a milestone.

London-based Abigail Muvuma was part of the 70-plus women of colour orchestra by Alicia Keys for her song If I Ain’t Got You, which was recorded for the Netflix series. The set of the music video released early this week reflected the Shonda Rimes series Bridgerton, with the musicians dressed in Victorian gowns.

The Cello player and music teacher, who is currently married to Andy Muvuma, a fellow musician is a regular in Uganda, especially Gulu where her maternal family is from. Calling the experience exciting, the still awed artiste said, “We had four days of rehearsal for the music but were surprised when Alicia Keys herself came on set on the final day.

She is very beautiful and kind. I’m still awed that I had the privilege to stand right next to her during the photoshoot.”
