How it went down at Martha Mukisa‘s debut concert

Songbird Martha Mukisa on Friday night had her maiden concert at Freedom City. Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s no longer hearsay, Martha Mukisa “Tasaaga,” it’s her fans that took her call for a joke.

Gates were open as early as 3:00 pm although the organising team was still doing the final touches. It was okay for fans to start entering at this time but they were nowhere to be seen.

Since it was a Friday, it was okay to tag their absence on work duties until the hour hand moved to 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm up to 7:00 pm. The fans proved to be busy like Martha sings in one of her songs. The audience was comprised of her parents, Team Martha Mukisa, Spice gadgets, the technical team, and the media. At this time, the numbers were just a red flag preparing the artist and her team for heartbreak.

Meanwhile, all the performers and DJs did their jobs well. The small crowd enjoyed the best time of the night. From the young DJ from Mbarara to Martha the queen of the night, the performances were worth remembering.

The feminism energy was represented by Swangz Avenue’s Zafaran, Vinka, DJ Zatto, Nina Roz, Jowy Landa, Karole Kasita, Recho Rey, Shakirah Shakirah, Lydia Jazmine, Spice Diana, and Vivian Tendo who put up splendid performances that made the crowd go gaga.

There was then a heated performance from allies as they strived for equal greatness. The boys and men who were led by Green Daddy, Tom Dee, Topic Kasente, Chembazz, dancer Eddie Wizzy, Alien Skin, King Micheal, Fresh Kid, Navio, David Lutalo, Kabako, Ryan of the Banina brothers among others proved that they are internationally local. As much as they all had the audience whirling, it was Kabako’s performance that had them go mad. He never performs with his shirt on. Whatever magic there is, we shall know at his concert.

The shirtless Kabako left the stage and roamed the crowd, encouraging them to lift their seats in the air to match his energy.

At about 10:40 p.m, Solid Band graced the stage to prepare the audience for the main act. They kept the audience glued to the lightened stage by repeatedly mentioning “Sisaaga.” This took almost ten minutes before the dancers graced the stage with the kiganda dance. A much larger audience had already gotten in. The VIP section was full and the ordinary section was close to being filled.

With her song Ex Wo, Martha made her debut on stage seven minutes before 11 p.m. With a Solid Band as her support system, she effortlessly expressed her vocal prowess and dance moves with infectious smiles.

Victor Ruz joined her on stage for the ‘Kikomando’ remix, Zizza Bafana joined her for the ‘Vibe Yo’ remix, Oma Africana joined her for their song ‘Bikole’, Baza Baza came in for ‘Wakigula’, she performed ‘Neteze’ with Eddy Yawe and crowned the night with her fans’ favorite collabo sango alongside Eddy Kenzo.

Martha Mukisa was designed by Abbas Kaijuka from the Kais Divo collection.
