Ugandan movies, actors and producers nominated in ‘The African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards’

African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards

Arguably the biggest movie stage on the African continent, the African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) announced this year’s nominees and Uganda sits on the high table of the countries with some of the biggest nominees.

In the Best Actor in a Drama (Movie/TV series), Patrick Nkakalukanyi received a nomination for his role in Tembele while Jeff Roberts Walusimbi got a nod for Best supporting actor Movies/TV series for his role in Bedroom Chains.

Usama Mukwaya and Loukman Ali got a shot at Best Short Film for their Sixteen Rounds, while Prestige was nominated in the Best Original Telenova.

Ann Kansiime’s ‘Kan-See-Me’ has been nominated for the Best Unscripted Original and Fun Factory’s Popo got a nod in the Best Original comedy series. Paul Kimera received a nomination for Best picture editor in Tembele.

In the best Cinematographer category Ishaq Ekuka (Tembele), Loukman Ali (Brotherhood), Eleanor Nabwiso (Karamoja), Emmanuel Gashumba (Dial M for Maya), and Hassan Mageye (Bedroom Chains) are nominated.

Loukman Ali (Brotherhoods) and Morris Mugisha (Tembele) are both nominated in the Best Director category while Morris also received a nomination in the categories of Best Movie East Africa and Best overall movie for Tembele.
