2019 was a year to remember on Uganda’s social scene when the Miss Curvy beauty pageant made its debut. There were mixed reactions given the pageant that was steered by the then State Minister for Tourism in the Ugandan Cabinet Godfrey Kiwanda.
The competition saw Belinda Nansai winning the first edition but just when she had just started her reign, the pandemic hit the world which led to a total lockdown. This affected the event that was then put on hold until this year when Anne Mungoma, its proprietor decided to hold the second edition.
With a new Patron in Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and Minister for East African Community Affairs, the pageant is having the second edition this Saturday at Ambiance bar in Bukesa.
“This Saturday, the second edition of Miss Curvy is going to be happening at Ambiance club and doors will be opening at midday until 6 pm where Belinda Nansai will be crowning another queen,” said Anne Mungoma in a press conference that happened on Wednesday.
According to Mungoma, they selected ten contestants who are going to be battling for the top position. When asked what they considered for the ten participants, she said they looked at several requirements including the size, ability to grow the Miss curvy brand, and what someone is bringing to the table as the queen among other things.
