The high commission of India in Uganda celebrated the Indian Festival of Lights popularly known Diwali with a dinner hosted for friends and family at the Sheraton hotel in Kampala. The event is one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism that symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.
The hotel hosted a mouthwatering delicacies of Indian cuisine to mark the festival. Diwali festival symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. It commemorates the return of the Hindu god Rama from a 14-year exile and his victory over the demon king Ravana, who had abducted his wife, Sita, according to Hindu scriptures.
The dinner which was prepared to perfection consisted of a rich Asian cuisine rooted in all diversity with each food prepared in a special and customized way. Foods such as; – chicken/ beef biryani, Tandoori Chicken, Malai Kofta, Naan, Matar Panner, Alu Gobi were enjoyed to the fullest.
While talking to the guests, the Sheraton General Manager, Jean-Philippe Bittencourt applauded the Hindu community for their new beginning as they celebrated and observed the triumph of light over darkness. And further thanked them for the immeasurable support of the hotel.
