Come this October the BEFFTA awards will be taking place on a date and venue not yet disclosed and our own Ugandans Hellen Lukoma, Eddy Kenzo and Jose Chameleone will be looking to come home winners.
Hellen Lukoma will be making her debut at the international awards and will have to beat a tough group to win the gong for Best actress 2017 The debutant has been put up against Nigeria’s Wema epetu, Eniola badmus, the legendary Mercy Johnson, Weru Cheopia a U.K-based Nigerian film and stage actress and entrepreneur, Miss Tanzania 2006 Wema Sepetu and Ghana’s JOSELYN DUMAS
Eddy Kenzo is nominated for Best International African Act and will face off with fellow east Africans Ali Kiba, Diamond Platinumz, Sauti Sol and a host of Nigerians, Wiz Kid, Patoranking, Kiss Daniel ,Tekno, Timi Dakolo and Fuse ODJ.
Jose Chameleone is in a category he would claim is his size as he goes up against the cream of African music legends Angeliqu Kidjo, Majek Fashek, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, 2Face Idibia and Dbanj for the gong of Best Musician legend 2017.
BEFFTA awards were founded by Pauline Long after she organized after Mr and Miss East Africa UK for many years. The Awards are aimed at honoring the outstanding achievements and contributions in showbiz and entertainment in the black and ethnic communities in the UK, USA, Africa, Caribbean, Canada and globally.
