The DVD- The forger

This has pretty low tempo but still manages to be interesting and griping. It is one of those movies where the end justifies the means, so you end up kinda involuntarily supporting evil.
In the movie, the world’s best forger Raymond (John Travolta) ends up in prison when a deal goes wrong. His son Will (Tye Sheridan) has cancer and doctors say he will die soon. Because he wants to spend time with his son before he dies, he just cannot stand staying in prison for another nine months. He decides to make a deal with Keegan (Anson Mount) who deals in all sorts of illegal things, to get him out of prison early and in return forge a very expensive art piece, then place it in the museum after stealing the original. It is a very dangerous mission. Even his father, Joseph (Christopher Plummer), who is usually on his side has problems coming to terms with it.
But seeing Will blend with his father softens him, especially when there is no good news about his health after each hospital visit. Before long, he is plotting with him on how to make the plan work. And his son, who has a wish list of things to be done before he dies decides that on top of meeting his father and having sex, actively taking part in the forgery plan is one of his wishes.
A cop has however taken interest in this ex-convicts’ movements and is trailing them. If the plan fails, they all risk jail and for Raymond, being in Keegan’s bad books is equivalent to death. Joseph plays a pretty simple role but he turns out to be the most impressive of all.
