The music video: What a love – coopy bly

Coopy

It is been long since we last reviewed a gospel music video. Yet, out goes the old, in comes the new. Coopy Bly is that new darling that has enchanted the hearts of many in the Christian circles. With a head puffed up of dreads, the video opens with Coopy Bly raising his arms up in the air (as if in wonderment over a great moment). It soon becomes clear that all this wonderment is about a certain kind of love which words cannot express.
He swings his dreads with certain special effects to match the scene. All this, happening against a graffiti background with various words such as truth and righteous. The message on the background is a subtle one, yet brings the desired meaning to this gospel song. One is called upon to pause and reflect, pay some attention as these words pass by so fast. You miss the background, you lose the story.
It is then time to spice up the video with some dancehall strokes, all played out in a slow-motion maze. Then we have the ripple effects. I interpreted this to imply the free-spreading love of Coopy Bly’s God. If it did not mean this, then it is another of those effects that served no purpose whatsoever. One must imagine the former assertion to be true, and not the latter.
A viewer is likely to get confused at the end. There is that proposal scene that will leave you in shock. What was the reason for this scene? Was it part of the video? Was it another of those behind the scenes addition? All in all, towards the end, the video gets ‘amazingly’ monotonous and very hard to love. Even though it is a gospel video, it ought to walk the extra mile in an already saturated industry, doze in some creativity and entice the viewer a little harder.
