The track : hela – RUYONGA

Ruyonga“Seek ye first the kingdom, and the rest shall be added unto you.” What a reassuring phrase! What a great piece of gospel to take with you, even as you sweat it out, and search for that money. It is a moral we readily learn from the Bible; but in this suave, hip, smooth-sailing, urban contemporary blend of Bongoflava, Lugaflow and hip hop as we have known it, Ruyonga gives a fresh way of accessing this teaching.

It is a song that has done its rounds around this town, and the region, endearing the young rapper to listeners’ hearts.
From a generalist point of view, it is comforting to listen to a rap song, a very good rap song, turn the tables and start to down play the importance of money in our lives. Ruyonga tells of money’s importance, because your landlord and your wife and your sister all need your money.

But, he then tells of how the money will not solve your problems, because there will always be a greater need for money; the more money you make, the more a greater need for the money will rise.
Here is a song that teaches you to be content with that which you have, not to let the love, hunger and search for money define who you are. Some fine food for the soul and the ear.
