Shot by Meddie Menz and Mirage Concepts, the Ice Cream video begins with a collage of carnival like photos pinned on a background of Ice bimbo sticks before it weaves into close-up shots of the energetic Sheebah.
The storyline is clear as shown by the display of the different ice cream flavours; the theme is a carnival-based one. The video gets Sheebah’s makeup perfect for the theme, her lip gloss and mascara makes her come off as a Samba girl. The rainbow sequin costumes, dazzles and large feathered head-dresses in the video radiate a party mood unto the viewer and align with the beats of the audio.
When it comes to the dance strokes, you have Sheebah and her line of masked dancers executing them with life, throwing up a leg while shaking their bodies in stroke. There is another gleaming moment where Sheebah adorned in a white dress dances enthusiastically before a background of red, blue and orange balloons. At one moment, she drives the point home by holding an ice cream cone, an empty one at that.
The main highlight of the video is when Sheebah raves before the dude she sings about, and this dude escalates by hitting at Sheebah’s backside in a playful way. And on a serious note, if you have watched any of Nicki Minaj’s videos, then you will agree that Sheebah played her role as the Ugandan Nicki Minaj.
Some of the disappointing parts in this video are the empty ice cream cones held by Sheebah. I felt like punching those obscured guys in the background who danced away in their jeans and T-shirts, like seriously? The video would have been memorable if it had had an outdoor setting and utilised the natural lighting.
