What started as a bar theme night is slated to air as a programme on national television. Star Bartender is a theme night that was launched a month ago at Asylum Bar and Lounge along Namugongo Road.
According to Asylum manager Kenneth Ntabazi, the theme revolves around getting two celebrities to serve behind the bar counter for a few hours every second Saturday of the month. Ntabazi says, part of the sales from the night are used to donate to a charity every month.
But Star Bartender will no longer be just an Asylum bar theme party as NBS TV recently entered into a deal to air the night as a TV programme.
“We love creativity and we found this very creative. It involves partying and celebrities putting all they have aside to do something so casual for a charitable cause. We are sure our viewers will enjoy watching their favourite celebrities behind the counter yet all this is for a good cause, to help some under privileged people out there,” said Chris Wanobere, NBS’ Programmes Manager.
Bebe Cool and his wife Zuena were the first Star Bartenders. And come next Saturday July 13, comedians Hannington Bugingo aka Bujju and Patrick Idringi aka Salvado will be behind the counter.
