In the sense of the movie, it has been a decade since the big defeat though in real time it has been two years since that god-awful Clash of the Titans.
In the movie, it’s a decade after the heroic defeat of the atrocious Kraken. He is out of picture, having been taken down in the prequel. This will allow Perseus-the demigod son to have a bit of a peaceful life as a fisherman in a village with his young son. But out there, war is in high gear as the gods and the Titans take each other on for supremacy. The gods have failed to secure the commitment of humanity as the Titans fight to be free from prison.
Perseus will have to get involved because this is his true calling. He has to go to Tartarus to meet with his brothers Hades and Poseidon and his son Ares and sooner the walls of Tartarus break, unleashing various monsters into the world, including a Chimera that attacks Perseus’s village before Perseus kills it.
35-year-old South African director Jonathan Liebesman who got his breakthrough as a director in 2002 with Darkness Falls, directs this one, as well horrors like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th and The Killing Room among other movies.
