Singer Mc Norman Ganja nominated for Hollywood awards

South Africa based Ugandan Reggae artiste Mc Norman Ganja has been nominated for the 2023 Hollywood Independent Music Awards.

It is understood that the singer was nominated in reggae category for a cover version of one of South Africa’s most popular song ‘Loliwe’ by Zahara.

Ganja whose real name is Ronald Mutebi explained to sQoop that his nomination is an opportunity rendered to him to further his career and root for opportunities for Ugandan music.

“I am glad that my incredible piece of work was accepted in the annual Hollywood Independent Music Awards. This is not for me alone but the Ugandan music industry,” Mc Norman explained.

The nominated song was taken off Zahara’s debut album of the same title which was released in 2011 and went on to win Best-Selling Album, Album Of The Year and Best Smooth Urban Music Album at the 18th South African music awards.

The Hollywood Independent Music Awards is the premiere global platform for Independent music. Emerging and established artistes, songwriters, composers and audio recording professionals around the world are recognized for outstanding contributions and content creation.

The HIM Awards event will take place summer of 2023 in the entertainment capital of the world, Hollywood, California.

The evening will feature live performances, a VIP dinner banquet, celebrity presenters, red carpet and award presentations.
