Singer cum politician Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine met with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Michael Holness, during his visit to the country this week.

Bobi Wine was in Jamaica to perform at the country’s annual music festival known as Rebel Salute, named after its founder an artist known as Tony Rebel.

In a post on his Facebook page, Bobi Wine said they discussed among other things the role of music and arts in a nation’s development.

“I appreciated his country for recognising the potential of young people and putting them at the helm of their country’s development agenda- seeing that he is also the youngest Prime Minister in Jamaica’s history,” Bobi Wie said.

According to Bobi Wine, Holness watched artists perform at the Rebel Salute concert, alongside the Prime Minister of Barbados.

“Juxtaposing it with Uganda, it was refreshing to see him sit through several performances and even listen to songs which were critical of his government,” Bobi Wine said.

Prime Minister Andrew Michael Holness, who is Jamaica’s head of government, said music is an important tool in social change, and that it should guide any country’s thought process.
