I didn’t run away from Rema’s Kukyaala- Halima Namakula

Halima Namakula

The extraordinary pre-introduction ceremony that saw singer Rema Namakula ditch Artiste Edrisa Musuza alias Kenzo for Mulago Gaenacologist Dr Hamza Ssebunya has left many people talking.

Notable among the concerns is one on why her de’ facto mother, Halima Namakula was a no-show at the event.

In an exclusive interview, Halima said that much as she wanted to attend, the ceremony was meant for Ssengas (paternal aunties), but promised to be fully available at their traditional marriage, also known as Kwanjula on November 14, 2019.

“People are all over social media to make all sorts of accusations but everyone knows that I attend the UNAA Convention annually and after UNAA I spend time with my other children and grandchildren in living in U.S,” Halima said.

This year, the UNAA convention ran from August 29th to September 1st, whereas Rema’s pre-introduction ceremony occurred on October 9th, a month after UNAA.

Regardless, Halima says she is fully involved in all the developments and very supportive of Rema as a parent and that her role is to advise and support Rema’s decisions.

“My family and I discussed Rema’s function and we decided there was no reason of me being in Uganda for the first function because I am a mother to REMA, not a Senga,” she added
