In September last year, singer Catherine Kusasira earned herself a new title- Minister for Condolences, when she delivered money worth Shs20 million to the families of slain Bobi Wine driver Yasiin Kawuma and former Buyende DPC Mohammed Kirumira.

The singer said she was touched by the family’s plight after watching one of Kawuma’s widows crying out to president Museveni on TV. She then asked the president to help out and of course, Jjjaja dished out Shs20 million for both the bereaved families.

In an interview with Faridah Nakazibwe on NTV’s Mwasuze Mutya this morning, Kusasira said she would gladly take the post if opportunity presented itself.

“I do not blame people who call me minister for condolences, because I am committed person,” she said.

She added that from the moment she helped the berieved families of Yasiin Kawuma and Kirumira, quite a number of people have reached out to her asking for help.

“If there was a chance that there is going to be a new ministry in charge of condolences, let that chance not pass me by.”

“If I were given that Ministry, I would do a lot to help people. People with problems are so many,” she added.

Kusasira however dismissed reports that she is interested in joining politics.

“I am not a politician and I am not going to join politics. People just keep pushing me there.”
