Like so many other socialites, Herbert Shonga is among those whose source of income is unknown to the public.
Apart from owning one of the biggest printing and advertising companies on Nasser Road, last week, news was all over that Shonga had acquired Space Lounge, the former Club Rouge.
What we heard from the boss himself though is that the bar was a gift for his wife Dorothy Shonga. “My wife is someone who likes partying and the best way I could make her happy was to buy her a hangout place of her own,” Shonga said. The bar, according to Shonga will not change name and will remain operating as Space Lounge unless otherwise.
Shonga acquired Space Lounge at a whooping Shs370m and we are told he paid a first installment of Shs170m in January and completed the rest last month. The bar has been changing management since Aly Alibahi sold it off. We wait to see if Shonga’s wife’s hands will pull some magical crowds.
