Salvador is the funniest man in Africa

salvado2

You can say that Ugandan Patrick Idringi aka Salvado is officially the funniest man in Africa, after being named as the only African among the top funniest persons globally after the first round of voting.

The 20 finalists were selected from 88 first contestants from 56 countries. His counterpart Pablo was among the 88, but couldn’t make it to the top 20.

Salvado has gained the label as he is the only African to be shortlisted in the top 20 comedians list announced at an international press briefing that was held at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood on Tuesday morning.

The other African countries in the competition Kenya, Malawi, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan and Tunisia were all eliminated in round one.

According to laughfactory.com, the 20 comedians that made it to the final round, will be tussling it out for a trophy and a grand prize of $100,000 (about Shs330m). The will also become a comedy peace world ambassador.

During an interview on BBC Radio, BBC Newsday presenter Alan Kasujja got a bit of a shock this morning when Salvado gave him the news.

“You were living in denial before. I’ve always been funny,” Salvado said.

Later on though, Salvado also said: “I didn’t know I was that funny.”

Well, we’ll have to wait until December to see if he will be crowned.
