Ugandans to benefit from Akon’s music competition

akon3

We have in the past seen many reality music shows try to engage young, talented African artistes, but they have struggled.
But now (hopefully), through Africa’s biggest music export, Akon, the trend may change because the Konvict singer is committed to opening doors for other African artistes.
Akon is starting a music competition to select and groom raw talent from Africa and Uganda is among the countries that will benefit from this arrangement which will see the winner get an opportunity to be signed to KONLIVE Record Label and CSA Global Management.
The Senegalese-born superstar has teamed up with Isaac Kigozi and Hemdee Kiwanuka of E World Media Group, the Creators of Sean Kingston’s show ‘Fame In The Family’ that aired on E! and also the executive producers of part of Season 3 of ABC’s The Wildlife Docs as well as South Africa Agency CSA and Achievers Development Agency in Uganda.
Hemdee, who is also singer Halima Namakula’s son, said there is a lot of talent in Africa and this is a way to spot it: “Unlike other music competitions that have been around, the Akon project will further nurture the winners into world music beaters. Exactly what the Ugandan entertainment industry needs.”
