This is probably the most popular couple in East Africa right now. Diamond Platnumz may be the top East African music artiste at the moment. They have been branded the Kanye West and Kim Kardashian of East Africa. After all, Zari and Kim have a lot of things in common; they have both had sex tapes to their names, have dated men that matter, and are not afraid of their hustle. Diamond and Zari welcomed a baby last year, and we had to wait for 40 days before we could get a glimpse of baby Tiffah’s face.

This could be Uganda’s youngest celebrity couple. It is also the first celebrity couple to make it a point to wear matching attire to any social gathering, right from Blankets and Wine to award ceremonies. Canary Mugume is most known as a male model while Sasha Ferguson (real name-Sasha Naggi) is a WBS TV presenter and a former Miss Teen.

Okay, before Seanice became a Lojede, her last name was Kacungira. Fabian Lojede is a film-maker and an actor who has featured in the popular TV drama series, Jacob’s Cross, as Bola Abayomi, the evil one. Seanice is a former Sanyu FM presenter co-presenter, James Onen for being slow, ended up fetching water at her wedding. Seanice is also the founder of Blu Flamingo, a digital agency that organised Uganda’s first ever Social Media Awards. The two had a surprise wedding in 2014 and the two had a son last year.

The only constant among Uganda’s celebrity couples is probably the presence of a celebrity baby. You see, in April last year, KFM D’Mighty Breakfast presenter Ben Mwine and NTV news anchor, Rachael Arinaitwe welcomed a son. They got married in September 2013. Apparently the couple’s son is a Liverpool fan. Now that is a huge burden for a baby.

Rema rules the airwaves among our female artistes. Everyone thought she was finished when she left Bebe Cool’s Gagamel band. However, as it turned out, it was the best career decision she ever made. On top of leaving Gagamel, she fell in love with Eddy Kenzo and together they had a child – Aarmal. With Eddy Kenzo bagging award after award, to the extent of adding BET to his name, this is one couple we love. We can’t help imagining the crowds they would pull in case they staged a joint concert.

Okay, Empress is still a struggling artiste, but Nutty Neithan broke through with his Bakuwe Kyonywa hit. The two are believed to have met during their time at Maro’s Vocal Police. After dating for close to a year, they had results to show in September – a baby boy. In a recent interview with Sqoop, Neithan promised to take things to the next level.

Sylvia Namutebi is a former Miss Uganda and she has managed to stay on the social scene after her reign in 2012. Talent Africa’s Aly Alibhai on the other hand has over the years brought us the best international musicians (Akon, R. Kelly, Wizkid, Mafikizolo and Sauti Sol). The two are engaged and expecting a baby. This boy, we predict, will be crying celebrity tears and will be breastfed by a celebrity mother. Talk of being born with a silver spoon in the mouth.

This couple has been a game changer in the night club and bar industry. They built Club Rouge from scratch. In the days when the twerking happened at Rouge, Amnesia was always crying for the day the couple would call it quits. And true to Amnesia’s prayers, when the couple left, Rouge began its steady decline. They later shifted their might to Club Venom and once again, their midas touch was at play. They have been together for seven years.
In a recent Facebook throwback photo, Gareth captioned: “This Picture Was Taken 7 Years Ago, That’s exactly How Long we’ve been together. I can’t imagine living without you by my side. I Feel Blessed Having You With Me, I Love You And HAPPY BIRTHDAY”.

MC Kats is a man who showed his talent right from Teens Club at WBS TV. He is now one of those people who have earned a spot on this list. He is currently dating Fille, one of the top female artistes in the country. Together, they have a baby whose mother sings great lullabies, while the father shows the baby how to become a great emcee. When Uganda becomes a middle class country, then their wedding will also take place.

This couple probably updates us more about their life than anything. To follow them, is to be part of everything they do. Not sure whether they are really a celebrity couple but why not recognise Katsha, the man who brought a gold-plated Lamborghini to Uganda. What is Shakira popular for? Well, behind every ‘successful man’, is a popular light-skinned girl. The two are also expecting a baby. For goodness sake, what’s with Ugandan celebrity couples and babies? Is that the new wedding ring?

At first, there were rumours that the two had broken up after the birth of their first child – just when we were all convinced that a seal had been placed on this celebrity couple. But as they always say, in the midst of two love-birds, one is advised to keep mum. The whole nation was to be surprised by the birth of their second child. To date, the two maintain that they are apart. Yes, they only meet for the purpose of procreation.
Alex Muhangi and Prim Asiimwe
Prim Asiimwe was the first runner up in the Miss Uganda 2012 beauty pageant and is currently a presenter on one of the popular radio stations. Alex Muhangi, on the other hand, is a celebrated stand-up comedian. The couple has a child together, but have always kept their relationship in the background.
Weasal and Samira
We got to know Samira through the late AK-47. Before long, Weasal was introduced to Samira’s parents in Jinja. Their relationship is so complicated that it is easier to imagine Museveni attending a presidential debate than spot the two in public.
Moses Kigongo and Faridah Nakazibwe
According to reports, the couple has called it quits, and Nakazibwe has returned to former lover, a one Omar. Kigongo is NRM’s vice chairperson while Nakazibwe is one of Uganda’s top news anchors.
Their relationship took us by surprise, but like all relationships, you can never explain matters of the heart.

Anyway, this couple has only happened in our dreams. It came close to reality only for some jealous friend to block our girl from taking a step towards her relationship goals.
