Texas in Kampala: Country music lovers have a chance to party this Saturday during the annual Bob FM Let’s Go Country event. Holly Tucker will headline and she has promised a great show. Edgar R. Batte & Isaac Ssejjombwe write.

Hello Kampala, grab your boots, jeans and hats because country singer Holly Tucker is bringing a piece of Texas to Kampala. Tucker, who is famed for songs such as Love Is What It Takes, remake of Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud, More Than a Word, among others, is in town for the Let’s Go Country show.
Tucker, known for taking part in America’s biggest reality TV singing contest The Voice, and she will be headlining at the annual country concert at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel Gardens tomorrow. The show is hosted by Kampala’s country music station Bob FM.
The show will be a fusion of everything Wild West and purely country. Before the main act’s performance, a total of 16 horses will be rode from Wandegeya to Sheraton Hotel. There will be mud wrestling before the main show, which is slated to start at 6pm.
It is a show for family and there will be activities to keep the little ones busy, including bouncy castles, face painting and pony riding for Shs10,000 each. Adults will enjoy mud wrestling, horseback riding and board games.
The show is going to be Holly Tucker’s first performance outside the US.
“I’m so grateful to be here and I can’t wait to spend more time with you. Being my first time outside the US, I will make sure I perform to my best,” she promised during a press conference at Sheraton hotel on Tuesday.
“Our family has been involved in music for a long time and because of our history in music, I decided that my daughter should also be part of it and something magical happened in June 2013 during her first audition for Season 4 of NBC TV’s hit music reality show called ‘The Voice’.

Holly was among the top six out of 40,000 people and that is when I realised that she was ready to take on music as her career,” Johnny Tucker, the singer’s dad, who also doubles as her manager, said.
Bob FM Managing Director Timothy Sabiti described Tucker is an amazing country sensation, happy, energetic and a God-fearing.
According to her official bio, 22-year-old Tucker hails from Waco, Texas, and she has been singing since she was three years old. She got on stage for the first time at her home church when she was seven years old, and has been singing professionally since 12. She has always known her true passion to be country music.
14 million viewers tuned in each week for two months to watch the Emmy award-winning season of the show as Tucker, from Team Blake Shelton, delivered the most powerful performances ever seen on the show.
She was one of only seven contestants, that season, to receive a “chair turn” from all four coaches; Blake, Shakira, Usher, and Adam Levine. She was uniquely prepared for this elite level of performance.
She has recorded four albums to her credit, including seven of her own original songs. Since starring on The Voice, she has made over 400 appearances, in 17 states and Canada, while continuing as a full-time student at Baylor University, in Waco.
Ivy Brianna Njoki, the spokesperson of Easy creations, which is handling the show, says the country singer is a must watch for every country music lover.
