Tabloid reports had started making rounds indicating that fashion queen Sylvia Owori had run broke. But those tabloids can as well go ahead and chew their words. July 10 was Owori’s birthday and instead of throwing a lavish party in a posh hangout around town, Owori instead held a new T-shirt line launch party at her Garden City store.
Although the theme was launching her Africa My Heritage collection, to people that attended, it was more about Owori showing the media and socialites how she had refurbished and restocked her store.
Owori also used the function to announce that she was opening a store downtown in Nakivubo. Owori told us that her intention of opening the store at Ham Towers Nakivubo last month, was to enable people who do business downtown access her designs.
When we visited the store downtown, we realised the items were a cheaper than at her Garden City store. And even to shock us further, the attendant told us several celebs were flocking the store, “probably because items are cheaper,” she told us. Well, who said celebs don’t look for bargains?
