“The top dawg will always stay on top of the game; just confirmed Burna Boy for K’la, and the artistes’ line up is just beginning to load,” read a post on Promoter Suudi Lukwago’s Facebook wall last Friday.
The following day, Suudi posted a video drop of the Nigerian singer Burna Boy, announcing his Kampala show. Born Damini Ogulu, the 23-year old Burna Boy already has a couple of hit songs including Wombo Lombo, Trumpet featuring Davido, Abeg Abeg and Like to Party, which is his biggest hit at the moment.
According to his website, Burna Boy is described as a splendid vocalist that oozes versatility, “His unique sound blends Afrobeat, Rn’B and Hip hop into one tightly knit package. His songs span from ballads full of depth, sometimes to controversial issues as well, his dancehall tendency implies, songs that are just meant to get you in the mood to groove.”
His dancehall song Wombo Lombo is currently enjoying massive airplay in hangouts and media outlets. Having created such a buzz, Burna Boy’s concert will definitely be one to look out for; especially that Suudi indicated that the artistes’ lineup is just beginning to load.
The Burna Boy show is slated for September, “the exact date, venue and other details will be communicated in due course,” Suudi told us.
