Mavado, Chris Martin show postponed again

The Mavado and Chris Martin concert which failed to take place on December 29 and was later moved to January 12, has again been postponed, this time to Easter weekend. The organisers along with show sponsors, East African Breweries, note that the postponement is intended to give the artistes and party goers in Uganda time to prepare for what they anticipate to culminate into one of the biggest parties of 2013.

“Following the postponement of the end of last year’s concert, EABL acknowledges that it is not about quickly bringing the Jamaican duo to Uganda but rather about what dates should be most convenient for our consumers,” said Mr Richard Wabwire, the Corporate Relations Director at EABL. “We do believe this coming Easter Holiday will be an excellent time to celebrate the biggest concert of the year.”
Wabwire also conveyed apologies to the showgoers and promised that Mavado and Martin will “definitely show up this time around and perform in Lugogo Cricket Oval.”

There is also a recorded video with Mavado and Chris Martin apologising to Ugandans. “Uganda, we sincerely apologise for having missed the show on the New Year’s weekend but you can be rest assured of the best performance East Africa has ever seen when we rock Kampala Uganda, so get ready for the best ‘action’ packed show,” Mavado said.

Well, seems like someone is taking the phrase “better late than never” literally as this is not the first time an international star has snubbed Uganda on more than two occasions and later turned up. Three years ago, Akon turned up in Kampala and put up a great concert after having failed to turn up on two earlier advertised dates.
