Following a series of meetings with Canadian record company, OVO, Uganda’s Micheal Osings alias Lanie Banks has finally been signed to the record label.

Lanie Banks is a Canadian Ugandan Rapper, songwriter, and music video director.

“Talent doesn’t lie and I thank God for this. It is not very easy after all because it’s been a very long process for all three parties involved; my team, the OVO team, and the go-between agencies,” he said.

He added: “Everyone here knows that I deserve it. I come from a very small country and this is great news and means a lot to me.”

A series of events led to this deal happening, it all began in December 2022.

“As we were attending the NBA play-offs final at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto between Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers, we happened to spot the OVO Boss Mr Aubrey Graham. Mr Reach Williams my longtime manager and friend reached out to him and introduced me to him and negotiations started there and then,” he narrates.

Mr Graham welcomed the rapper commending him for working hard and his resilience.

“Lanie Banks has got talent, my boy from Africa boy can flow. He is one the best rappers currently,” he said

Lanie Banks, however, mourns the death of Reach, his manager who passed away on June 8, June 2023.

“Unfortunately, a few weeks later on June 8, June 2023 my best friend and manager passed on. My prayer is for all parties to respect the deal even after Reach’s death,” he said.
