I’m focusing on learning my self – Leila Kayondo

The “Manifesto” singer Leila Kayondo has declared 2017 a year of learning more about herself.

Kayondo, who was being hosted at KFM’s D’Mighty Breakfast, on the SuperStar Friday show, said that she has dedicated this year to finding out new things about herself as well as understanding her lifestyle alongside rectifying whatever is not right in her life.

“I want to get some alone time this year which will help me to find out the real me. Sometimes when you get so merged up with different people, you don’t get time to understand  yourself,” the singer said.

She added that she wants to distance herself from people with negative influence whose main purpose is to bring her down.

“Some people’s intentions are not clear, many be working so hard to bring you down but I want to eliminate all the wrong elements this year,” she said.

Asked whether SK Mbuga’s wedding had an impact on her social life, she said that she is an independent woman who is not afraid of moving on.

“My mother taught me how to be a woman; being a woman means being independent and handling challenges with a positive mind,” she explained.

Kayondo dismissed rumours that her relationship with Mbuga was ruined by her close friendship with Helen Lukoma.

The singer clarified that her friendship with Helen is a normal one and that it didn’t contribute anything towards her breakup with Mbuga.

“Helen and I have too many similarities which have made us close, our friendship is normal like other friendships though people interpret it differently, and it didn’t have anything to do with my breakup with Mbuga,” she said.

The singer said that she also wants to focus on her career as a social worker noting that she doesn’t want her degree to rot.  She applauded her fans for standing by her side during what she termed as a “hard time” and thanked them for their support.
