Salvador slams political bloggers over pettiness

Comedian Patrick Salvador Idringi

Comedian Patrick Salvador Idringi has slammed bloggers of contending political parties in Uganda, describing their actions as petty and embarrassing.

Salvador was prompted to make the remarks following recent social media attacks on university lecturer and cartoonist Jimmy Spire Sentongo.

Through his X handle, Salvador said the political camps always fabricate stories when someone says something they don’t like.

“The pettiness in all these political camps is just embarrassing. When you say something they don’t like, especially if it’s the truth they gang up on you and fabricate stories .. and it happens in all camps, now the latest victim is Dr. @SpireJim,” Salvador posted.
According to him, it is absurd that the leadership of the said camps let “all these illiterates speak on their behalf. It’s like they condone these ridiculous attacks. #TeamMK influencers.. you can do better, what a shame.”

The development came on the heels of Spire’s X post in which he said the biggest incentive for corruption in Uganda was thatt life is generally easier for the corrupt and harder for those who try to be straight. “People who are raised well in their homes soon realise that life in the country is not designed for them,” the cartoonist said before a section of social media users on the microblogging app threatened him.

“So last an acquaintance from that camp sends me a message that ‘they are here cooking blackmail for you in response to your comment on EU’s response to [Mwesigye] Frank (a blogger and an associate of the First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba). TRUST THEIR DUMBNESS, this morning, at the same time, over 25 accounts tweeted the same ‘breaking news’ about Spire.”
