Esco’s star shines @10

“It started in the mid-2000s when I would tell him to be the first on stage then I go next. As time went by, he would tell me the same. Starting is the most important thing and right now, we are celebrating 10 years of his emceeing journey. I am celebrating his journey,” said MC Kats of Esco Star.

Kats was the first to introduce one-man emcee shows in town and there was no better man to introduce his friend, MC colleague and successor of NTV Xpozed during his 10-year anniversary concert at Fame Lounge last Friday.

MC Esco came on stage at 1.30am and if it was a statement he wanted to make, he did make it. The show kicked off with a live band (Big Talent Band). One might be wondering why he had to have a band and then it all made sense when he got on stage.

Esco, real name Roscoe Kizito, had spent three weeks rehearsing with the band and on D-day, he did something special – he sang. Among the songs he performed was Neera, Mbawe, Motigbana and Gimme Likkle One Drop. It was a semi live performance.

The crowd, that came in slowly, was hyped and those who were not dancing were seen singing along. Eddy Kenzo, Lydia Jazmine, Grenade, John Blaq, Ykee Benda and Prince Omar all performed later during Esco’s second session.

Among the people that we spotted was Tip Swizzy, Feffe Bussi, Toniks, Santana, Kent and Flosso, Spice Diana and Nina Roz, among others. The party was on fire that it was no surprise the party went on until 5am.
