Bye bye Abenakyo: Minister Kiwanda flags off Fabiola for Tulambule campaign

Minister of State for Tourism Hon Godfrey Kiwanda on Tuesday morning flagged off socialite Anita Fabiola for the Tulambule tourism campaign.

Fabiola, together with Miss Tourism Uganda Margaret Kankwanzi, Miss Earth Josephine Nabirye and Emily Ayen Miss Karamoja, were flagged off at the Independence Monument in Kampala. They will take the Eastern route and the trip will end after four or five days with the last place being visited being Karamoja.

This comes after reports indicated that Miss Uganda and Miss World Africa Quinn Abenakyo has failed to come to an agreement with the Ministry of Tourism.

The Tulambule campaign has been marred with inconsistencies as it was initially handed to Zari. Her reign was widely criticized especially the pictures that she posted. Many felt that she was more focused on showcasing her beauty rather than the wonders of Uganda.

When Abanakyo was crowned Miss World Africa, the ministry did a U-turn and instead branded her the new tourism ambassador. The beauty queen is said to have failed to come to an understanding with the ministry over payment and opted out of the campaign hence Fabiola taking over. Confusing, right?
