The first edition of fashion for a cause event happened last Wednesday at Encanto Kisementi with 11 models taking to the runway for a good cause. An all-inclusive fashion show to raise awareness for persons with disabilities.
The event that started at 8pm was aimed at giving a chance for people with different disabilities to showcase and to prove that they are not limited by their disabilities.
Different models including three persons in a wheelchair, three on crutches, an albino and one with Vitiligo among others all modelling for the guests who cheered them on for encouragement.
The fashion showcase had Sawe Catherine designing the outfits that models wore during the evening but besides being a designer, she is also the founder of Sawe creations, the organizers of the event.
Speaking about the event, Sawe said with the success of the first edition, she is optimistic there are more events to come.
“We are optimistic there are more fashion shows coming in different places and besides that, we are intending to start an inclusive brand which will have persons with disabilities being trained among other things,” she said.
The evening also had performances coming in from a Nigerian artiste known as Deeosa who did his Babalawo single off his new album, Yutta Konvictz Dance society as well as a dance performance from Kitintale Skate Park crew.
There was also a Pop Up/Flash sale from Sawe creation products that were put on sale, pret-a-porter and tailor made with 10% of profits made from the sale going towards Special children’s Trust in Bukoto.
